JOB OPPORTUNITY: Yard / Stockist Assistant

Due to continuous expansion we are seeking a Yard / Stockist Assistant for our newly renovated Builders Merchant Store.

Duties will include:-

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles by hand or with a forklift truck.
  • Organising stock into correct storage areas.
  • Picking and packing orders.
  • Maintaining neat and organised storage / yard area.
  • Answering queries from customers.

Requirements of the role:-

  • Candidate will preferably have a forklift license however full training can be provided.
  • Must have a good work ethic, be reliable & flexible.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills.
  • Customer focused with a polite and friendly manner.
  • Can work independently or in a team.

Preferably the candidate will have experience working within a builder’s merchants and have a good knowledge of timber and building products.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Industrial Paint Sprayer

BHC is one of the UK’s leading Structural Steel Fabrication and Construction companies supplying and erecting fabricated steel nationwide within the UK and Ireland.

Due to continuous expansion we are looking for a skilled and experienced Industrial Paint Sprayer to prepare and coat structural steel components.

Duties will include:-

  • Paint spraying using two pack and/or Intumescent application on heavy industrial steel components.
  • Spraying using airless pressure king pumps and hand application to a high quality standard.

Requirements of the role:-

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Industrial Paint Spraying.
  • Candidates should have experience in quality checks such as DFT / WFT and surface preparation.
  • A working experience of spray and hand application of primer / Intumescent coatings processes and operations for structural steel would be an advantage for this role.
  • Must have a good work ethic, be reliable & flexible.
  • Can work independently or in a team.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Structural Steel Loading Operative

BHC is one of the UK’s leading Structural Steel Fabrication and Construction companies supplying and erecting fabricated steel nationwide within the UK and Ireland. We currently have a vacancy for a Structural Steel Loading Operative.

Main Responsibilities

  • To review load sheets for structural steel loads, ensuring that each load is set out in a stable manner, working to BHC Loading procedures.
  • To operate overhead cranes for the positioning of materials whilst building the load.
  • To ensure that all materials are secured as per BHC Ltd loading procedures prior to the lifting of loads on to trailers for transportation.
  • To ensure safe loading methods are adhered to with consideration given to the unloading of materials on site.
  • To ensure that the loading operative does not compromise the product quality.
  • To adhere to work schedules for priority loadings as issued by the loading Manager / Supervisor.
  • To maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness / housekeeping within the loading bay at all times.
  • To communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with all colleagues and Sub Transport Contractors.

Knowledge and Experience

  • A working experience with structural steel is required for this role.
  • Experience in the use of Overhead Cranes / Telehandlers would be advantageous.
  • The job required an individual who can work as part of a team or on their own, meeting targets and deadlines as set by the loading management team.

This is a key role to the business, and required an individual who will be courteous towards all Management, Colleagues, Clients and has the ability to comply with Health and Safety Regulations.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Part Time Cleaner

BHC Ltd is a busy, expanding construction company based in Carnwath. Reporting to various management the role will be to maintain a consistent level of housekeeping, ensuring that all scheduled cleaning works are completed in a timeous fashion.

Key Objectives:

  • Upkeep of Builders Merchants including the cleaning and tidying of shop displays.
  • Maintaining clean and tidy offices, kitchens and toilet blocks
  • Making sure the outside areas of the shop are well presented, clean windows, swept entrances etc.

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Good attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Construction Programmer/Planner

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Construction Programmer/Planner to centralise all of the companies project & labour plans.

Duties of the Programmer include:

  • Develop Construction/Tender programs
  • Conduct site visits and look through the works and drawings when required.
  • Review contractor schedules and schedule risk analysis
  • Produce progress/program reports in conjunction with Project & Construction Managers
  • Produce weekly look-ahead programs and manage critical paths.

Requirements of the role:

  • Operational experience together with previous significant experience of planning within the construction and steel industry.
  • Master programming – design, procurement, pre-commencement, construction, commissioning Production of design schedules
  • Knowledge of project planning processes and the project life-cycle.
  • Knowledge of the procurement processes necessary for designing and building commercial projects.

Good IT skills with all Microsoft packages including Microsoft Projects or similar version and the ability to pick up new software quickly.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: CNC Foreman

We have an exciting Foreman/Supervisor opportunity at our production facility in Carnwath. This position requires an individual with organisational skills, self-motivation and must be a good team player. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Organising the workload for our CNC equipment.
  • Organising the stock for each machine’s production run.
  • Ensuring production lines are efficiently supplied with all required processed parts.

JOB OPENING: Estimator

BHC are an established contractor who have various divisions within their Company Group. Our long established Main Contract works division successfully uses the varied in-house resources of the group to offer clients a single point of contact for their project requirements wither it be traditional contracting, design and build or full turn key developments.

Due to continuous expansion we are seeking an Estimator with a Civils/Building background to join our Main Contract estimating team.

Your Key Activities will include but not limited to: -

  • Responsible for the preparation and subsequent negotiation of Tender submissions for Civil/Building projects
  • Examine incoming tenders and review contract potential
  • Measuring & ‘Quantity Take-Off’ from drawings
  • Producing Bills Of Quantities
  • Sourcing pre-project information and analysing sub-contractor quotations, agreements & enquiries
  • Build up tender price from first principles based on the scope of works, plans, specification, programme
  • Cost planning
  • Produce tender report in preparation for tender adjudication.
  • Attend pre & post contract interviews, client meetings etc.
  • Collect and distribute of feedback.
  • Investigate cost effective and/or alternative solutions.
  • Input data entry onto estimating software.
  • Comply with BHC Ltd procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of latest techniques.
  • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.

Required Experience:

  • HNC or degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering. Not critical for experienced estimator
  • Site experience is advantageous.
  • Experienced in various methods of measurement relevant to Civils/Building works.
  • Proven estimating experience with large Civils or Main Contract Companies.
  • Some variety in types of work priced
  • A team player who is a confident communicator with all members of staff.
  • You must have excellent interpersonal skills; maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers and have a personable character.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines on a daily & weekly basis.
  • Microsoft office proficient.
  • Estimating software experience preferably Causeway.

Job Location  – Carnwath with some site visits.
