From initial Tendering to Project Completion, every aspect of every job is managed smoothly and efficiently

Design and Build Projects:
Upon receipt of the client's architect's drawings and specification, we commence designing the steel frame, using our design team's skills and systems to provide the client with the most economical solution – and in accordance with the design brief.

Conventional Build Projects:
Upon receipt of the engineer's drawings from the Main Contractors/Cost Consultants, BHC's Estimating Department will generate a 3-D model of the structure and then proceed to calculate costs using our own in-house designed estimating software. Once the costs are generated, the Estimating Department will issue a letter of offer which clearly indicates our scope of work along with 3-D drawings, in order for the client to have a clear understanding of what our offer includes.

Additional services also available, include the installation of metal decking/safety netting, precast/steel stairs, precast planks and edge protection. BHC can also provide the application of off-site intumescent fire protection.

Drawing Office:

On receipt of order a Project Manager and Technical Manager are assigned to ensure that pro-active planning commences at an early stage, providing a value-engineered package to our clients. Our technical expertise has been recognised throughout many technical workshops, where our alternative solutions have been adopted on many occasions.

BHC's Technical Administrators and Document Controllers transfer all CAM data (electronic data) to our fully-automated workshop for fabrication to begin. This process eliminates human error and ensures that a quality product is delivered to site in erectable ‘lots’ of steelwork. We also apply all surface treatment requirements, whether it be primer paint, or intumescent coatings in our workshop or subcontracted galvanised coatings. We will deliver steelwork, either on our own articulated vehicles, or by trusted transport companies in planned erectable loads on a just-in-time basis. Our finished goods stock system is complemented by two 29 tonne side loaders, which can pick and place complete loads from stock with minimal handling, accommodating late sequence changes from our clients.

Upon arrival of steelwork on-site, erection will commence, based on the agreed phasing and programme sequence in accordance with our method statement and risk assessments etc. Where applicable, we will also supply and install additional items such as metal decking, precast/steel stairs, precast planks and edge protection. All erection work, including these additional services, is carried-out by our own multi-tasked in-house erection squads, ensuring that there is minimal impact to our clients in the event of re-phasing. All operatives are trained to a high standard resulting in BHC's 100% achievement of CSCS certification.
